Our Mission & Vision

St Peter’s Pre-school provides a safe, happy and stimulating educational environment in which children are valued as unique individuals and are able to access the EYFS through a variety of fun and engaging activities, with the support of dedicated and experienced child care practitioners.

Learning through play and interaction in a place where they have empowerment over their environment, we promote an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement where the children are prepared for their next steps in learning.

A day at St Peter’s

The children arrive ready to start pre-school at 9am, they have a little time to settle in and to wait for their friends to arrive before we have a circle time to welcome everyone to the session. During this circle time the children sing songs, read stories, share their important news or discuss topical themes.

After circle time, the real fun begins as the children have the opportunity to access a wide variety of planned activities and resources. Throughout the session, the children can move around the setting freely, choosing which areas to access including our amazing garden.

A snack is available during the session and staff supervise the children as they self-select their food of choice. Milk (oat milk for those who can’t have milk) and water are available throughout the session. The snack is always healthy consisting of fruit and vegetables.

As the morning session comes to a close, the children are encouraged to tidy away the resources they have been playing with and come together to do a brief physical session. After that, the morning children go home whilst the other children have story time, followed by lunch (a healthy packed lunch brought in from home).

Once lunch has finished, the children have circle time to welcome any new comers and then continue with the planned activities for that afternoon. The afternoon session comes to a close once the children have tidied away and had a story before going home at 3.30pm.

Testimonials

What parents are saying

St Peter’s Pre-school and its staff hold a special place in our hearts. It provided our children with a nurturing and safe environment which they loved and were always happy to run in to!

We strongly believe it’s thanks to St Peters both of our children progressed on to Primary School as confident, happy and approachable children…we couldn’t really have wished for anything more!

Mrs Todd

Parent

Margot has been at St Peter’s since she was 2. She bounced in from day one. The teachers are supportive and nurturing and Margot’s confidence and communicative skills have grown in abundance. Children are introduced to a wide array of activities and we noticed very quickly how Margot’s gross motor skills flourished with access to the garden and all the facilities. Teachers put so much effort into providing inventive and seasonal activities which have improved Margot’s awareness of seasons, nature, cultures and the even concept of charity. My husband and I are both teachers ourselves and we couldn’t have hoped for a more perfect environment for our daughter.
